WELCOMING NEIGHBORS

Welcome neighbors! This was the vibe of Redeemer City Church and lead planter Steven Lee at the school on Sunday in Northeast D.C. where they will now meet weekly for their worship gatherings. I was so glad to be with them for their launch Sunday in the new location to experience worship, to hear Steven preach and cast vision, and to watch this new church plant warmly welcome so many first time guests from the surrounding neighborhood. They not only welcomed their neighbors, but they also ate together with them after worship at a picnic they hosted. I know it was rewarding for Steven and the team to have a strong turnout because they’ve invested many hours out in the neighborhood meeting and inviting new friends to be a part.

Let’s celebrate God for how he is putting himself on display in this D.C. neighborhood through the open and welcoming hearts of Steven and the founding members of Redeemer City Church. Let’s also pray for God’s continued work in the lives of individuals and families as this young church plant discerns how to best connect relationally with these neighbors to help them become gospel-centered disciples of Jesus!

Thank you for generously investing so that God’s kingdom spreads in our neighborhoods, subcultures, and cities!

For the gospel,
