The angels announced “peace on earth” with the arrival of Jesus (Luke 2:8-14). This peace (shalom) through Jesus has different dimensions. He brings reconciliation with God, unity with others, inner tranquility, and after he returns there will be an end to all wars and the restoration of all things.
On Dec 23rd, I spent some time with Tom Hooe and the core team of one of our church plants – Allelon. Tom leads this planting initiative in one of the toughest areas of the city where broken families and conflict on the street is common. Yet their team was buzzing with excitement about how people that are coming to faith are not only being reconciled to God, but they are seeing reconciliation to entire households who were formerly estranged. Praise God for the shalom that Jesus brings!
