TIMES12 is pleased to welcome Dr. Matt Carter as its new Executive Director, marking an important step forward in the organization’s continued growth and mission.
Matt brings a deep passion for healthy, gospel-centered multiplication and a proven track record of developing leaders and planting churches rooted in Scripture and committed to long-term impact. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Mobilization for Send Network, where he catalyzed churches to equip and send church planters across North America. Prior to that, he was the Founding and Lead Pastor of the Austin Stone Church in Austin, Texas. Under his leadership, the church grew from a core group of 18 to more than 8,000 attendees and became known for raising up leaders and sending over 300 full-time missionaries to unreached people groups.
Throughout his ministry, Matt has emphasized not just growth, but the cultivation of healthy churches that develop leaders, multiply, and faithfully advance the gospel. His commitment to equipping planters and pastors and building sustainable, reproducing church movements aligns closely with TIMES12’s mission and vision for the future.
TIMES12’s founder and current Executive Director, Dr. Mark McGeever, will transition into an executive role as Director of Training & Resources. In this role, Mark will focus full time on what he is deeply committed to: designing training cohorts and workshops, developing tools and resources, and equipping church planters, pastors, and leaders across the network.
This transition reflects a thoughtful and strategic step for TIMES12, allowing the organization to build on its strong foundation while expanding its reach and effectiveness.
The TIMES12 Board is grateful for the organization’s health and growth, and for the opportunity to undertake this leadership transition from a position of strength.
Timeline: Matt Carter will begin on May 1, 2026, and for several months will serve as “Executive Director–Designate” as he integrates into the organization and builds relationships with our partners. By September 1, 2026, the TIMES12 Board of Directors will formally install Matt as Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter. In Mark’s words, “I will joyfully pass the baton to Matt and submit to his leadership. I’m genuinely excited to serve alongside him and see how God will use our complementary gifts to advance His kingdom.” TIMES12 will publicly welcome Matt and celebrate this transition at its next all-network gathering in October 2026.
With Matt stepping into the Executive Director role and Mark continuing to lead in training and resource development, TIMES12 is well-positioned for its next season of impact. We are grateful for Mark’s legacy of leadership and look forward with anticipation to the ways God will use both Matt and Mark to advance our vision of multiplying disciples and churches.
Best regards,
David Kelly
Chair, Board of Directors
