FAMILY ON MISSION IN D.C.

Posted on: February 5, 2015

I experienced genuine family last Sunday in D.C. with Redeemer City Church. Redeemer City is one of SENT’s more recent church plants led by Steven Lee. Steven is modeling and teaching their local church to be a family on mission in D.C.

It warmed my heart to hear this wonderfully diverse church family authentically sharing their joys and struggles with each other. The teaching focused on how the gospel of Jesus makes us beloved sons and daughters of God the Father, no longer spiritual orphans. When they ended their gathering, people just hung around and continued to connect relationally.

Not only does this new plant exhibit the traits of a close-knit family, they are also on mission together in their city, demonstrating and proclaiming the gospel. They shared stories of feeding the homeless together, intervening to help abused children, a young professional coming to faith, and how they are reaching out to other young professionals and University students with the life-changing message of Jesus. I saw not-yet believers with them Sunday experiencing real love by this church family, while they are still exploring faith in Jesus Christ. This new church plant is truly a family on mission!

I’m so grateful for partner churches with SENT in our region like Bay Area Community Church (Annapolis) and The Well (Silver Spring). These churches have been instrumental in helping Steven and Tiffany Lee plant Redeemer City in DC. (see pic of The Well praying over the Lees some months back)

I’m also grateful for your partnership with SENT as we equip leaders to start gospel-centered churches to spread God’s kingdom!
