Last week, SENT Network hosted “The Christ-Centered Expositor Training” with Dr. Tony Merida, author of The Christ-Centered Expositor. Over 50 church planters, pastors and church leaders attended and were encouraged and equipped to preach Christ from the Scriptures. One attendee, David Wissel, a future church planter, said, “This event gave me a renewed vision for proclaiming Christ from all the Scriptures. I feel more equipped and excited to preach as a result of this training.”
Not only were preachers throughout the Mid-Atlantic better equipped to preach, but over seven more churches or aspiring church planters have expressed interest in partnering with SENT Network as a result of the event.
After the training, two of our leadership team members, Adam Muhtaseb and Aaron Dininny, along with Executive Director Mark McGeever and Dr. Tony Merida, finished a two-month preaching cohort with seven SENT lead church planters and pastors. These cohort members spent two months upping the quality of their expository preaching and even had an opportunity to preach before our panel of trainers to receive feedback. One of SENT’s lead planters, Daniel Dixon, a former professional basketball player and gifted preacher who is planting Redeemer Church in Northern Virginia, said of the cohort, “It was a gift to me to participate in this preaching cohort. My soul was blessed.” Allen Smith, Missional Community Pastor at Bay Area Community Church, said, “The ax is sharper. Relationships were made. And my love for Jesus runs deeper. Thank you!”
