COPYRIGHT USE AND COMPLIANCE SUMMARY

TIMES12 is thrilled to provide resources to those they partner with to advance the gospel and God’s church. Here’s a brief summary to help ensure that TIMES12 Partners correctly display the copyright and how they can honor their Copyright License Agreement. We’ve summarized these as follows:

HOW TIMES12 PARTNERS CORRECTLY DISPLAY THE COPYRIGHT ON RESOURCES
HOW TIMES12 PARTNERS CAN HONOR THEIR COPYRIGHT LICENSE AGREEMENT
HOW TIMES12 PARTNERS CORRECTLY DISPLAY THE COPYRIGHT ON RESOURCES

In some cases a current TIMES12 Partner will use a resource or document without any changes. At other times a TIMES12 Partner may draw heavily upon a resource or document and make changes for contextualized use. Here is how a copyright should be displayed in both these situations.

/// COPYRIGHT WHEN NO CHANGES ARE MADE – When a current TIMES12 Partner uses a resource or document without any changes, they must retain and display the following copyright:

© 2026 TIMES12, Inc. All rights reserved. This document is licensed for exclusive use by individuals, churches or organizations with a current TIMES12 Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement. Only approved Partners may adapt this material for contextual use in accordance with the instructions at times12.org/copyright-use. If you are not a current TIMES12 Partner and have questions about use or copyright permission, visit times12.org/copyrightpermission. Original document by [Name of Author].

/// COPYRIGHT WHEN CHANGES ARE MADE – When a current TIMES12 Partner uses a substantial portion of a resource or document and makes changes for contextualized use, they are to replace the original copyright and must display the following copyright:

© 2026 TIMES12, Inc. [Name of Partner Church or Organization] produced this document by adapting a TIMES12 document with permission for use under a current TIMES12 Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement. /// FAQ – What if one only uses a brief quote from a TIMES12 resource or document? Standard copyright rules apply to anyone who wants to quote or paraphrase a short phrase, sentence, or paragraph, regardless of partnership status. Let’s all have integrity when using the intellectual property of others, whether it’s a TIMES12 resource or anyone else’s!

HOW TIMES12 PARTNERS CAN HONOR THEIR COPYRIGHT LICENSE AGREEMENT

Now that you’ve seen how to properly display the copyright, here’s a brief summary to help TIMES12 Partners grasp how they can honor their Copyright License Agreement (CLA). This overview aims to help prospective Partners understand what they are agreeing to when signing a CLA, and reminds current Partners how they can continue to honor their CLA as they use or adapt resources and documents provided by TIMES12. The full CLA contains detailed legal language and governs in full, but here’s the summary.

/// PERMISSION GRANTED FOR USE ONLY TO CURRENT TIMES12 PARTNERS

  • Only those with a current TIMES12 Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement are granted permission to use or adapt resources and documents provided by TIMES12 within the ministries of their church or organization.
  • TIMES12 Partners are not permitted to make these resources and documents available to churches, organizations, or ministry friends who do not currently have a signed TIMES12 Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement.

/// GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR USE BY PARTNERS

  • Partners preserve the core meaning, theology, and substance of TIMES12 content when modifying a resource or document for contextualized use.
  • Partners only use the materials within the scope of their church or organization’s ministry.
  • Partners do not charge for use of resources or documents.
  • Partners ensure materials are shared only within the context of active TIMES12 Partners. Note: An authorized staff director in TIMES12 may receive permission to share a sample resource with a prospective partner on a one-time or limited basis.

/// OWNERSHIP AND STEWARDSHIP

  • TIMES12 retains ownership of all original materials.
  • Adapted versions created by Partners remain part of the broader TIMES12 resources.
  • Adapting a resource does not transfer ownership, but it does reflect shared stewardship and trust.

/// IF A PARTNERSHIP CONCLUDES

  • If a partnership comes to an end, former Partners are asked to discontinue use of TIMES12 materials. Printed materials are to be discarded and digital copies deleted, helping ensure materials remain in use only with active Partners who have a current Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement.

/// IF THERE IS INTEREST BY NON-PARTNERS ABOUT USING A RESOURCE

  • As stated, TIMES12 Partners are not permitted to make TIMES12 resources and documents available to churches, organizations, or ministry friends who do not have a signed TIMES12 Partnership Agreement and Copyright License Agreement that is current.
  • If non-partners have interest in using a resource or questions about copyright permission, they can visit times12.org/copyrightpermission.
