Bliss Spillar recently relocated his family to Frederick, MD to spearhead a new church plant. Bliss was sent out by Portico Church (Charlottesville, VA) where he served on staff. This new initiative in Frederick is a great example of how SENT Network can collaborate with other networks or churches outside ours to see gospel-centered churches raised-up.
I’ve been excited to hear how Bliss and his wife Shelby are taking the initiative to connect with people in their neighborhood and city who don’t know Jesus yet. They are also diligently networking with believers to see who God may be calling to join their core group for this new disciple-making church. Bliss and Shelby are opening their hearts and their home weekly to potential core group members to build relationships, cast vision, teach, and to worship & pray. It’s an exciting yet daunting task to pioneer a start up venture like this. Bliss isn’t walking alone in this. He meets regularly in one of our coaching huddles with Matt Klingler (experienced planter) for encouragement and insight. Let’s pray and ask God to bring together their core group, and that many will meet Jesus and follow him through this gospel-centered church that’s being birthed in Frederick.
