I was so encouraged at our recent monthly Collective as our church planters shared stories of many people coming to faith in Jesus Christ through their church plants from all around the region. Here is one story shared by Tom Hooe (Lead Planter of Allelon Church) who is bringing the gospel into one of the roughest areas in his city.

“We recently took our annual camping trip to Deep Creek Lake State Park. This provided an opportunity for many in the Old Fourth Ward of Annapolis to witness the beauty of God’s creation and to broaden their horizons. It was a time of relationship building and deepening our walk with Jesus.  This year’s theme was ‘Jesus is Better!’ During the course of the weekend there were many tears of joy and sorrow. We shared the ways in which Jesus is better than our greatest victory and deepest sorrow.  The weekend culminated with a campsite worship service on Sunday morning followed by an invitation to repent and believe and make a commitment to follow Jesus. We then walked down to the lake to baptize those who made the decision. This year we knew in advance that Ashley was planning to take this walk.  What we did not know is that during the course of the weekend, Ashley’s oldest son…Ashley’s husband…Ashley’s mom and her husband…and Ashley’s husband’s mom…would all make the same decision.  The scene at the edge of the lake was truly joyous. Curiosity was in the eyes of the bystanders witnessing our group of 32 campers walking to the edge of the lake.  The crowd of witnesses drew nearer…applause growing louder with each baptism. In that moment it was as if all could hear the unspoken words that Jesus is truly better.” Tom Hooe

Thank you for partnering with us as we proclaim that Jesus is better!
